low GPA

I am sophomore in HS and my predicted GPA is a 3.5 for the first semester (all H/AP) Last year I earned a 3.3 and 3.6. I am striving for NU and I am not sure whether or not these grades will suffice. I don't want to hear this "you're only a sophomore, how can you even say you want to go to NU??" because I KNOW. Anyways, everyone should have a goal, correct? I am aware that there are upcoming semesters to improve my grades but I am unsure how much my GPA would change due to a rigorous schedule for junior and senior year.

I greatly appreciate any tips you have about ways to improve grades. One change I have made is that I do all work and studying at a local university. I would rather not hear about reconsidering a different college. I am aware that I sound quite sour and thus is due to a very tough, personal situation. Please excuse me. :(

Ok, I can answer this question because I applied, and got rejected! Make sure you are talking about unweighted GPA. . . A 3.5 GPA unweighted is a stretch. You have 2 years to bring that up and since you’re realizing it now, you ought to do everything you can to get straight A’s from now on. Also, you should take SAT practice tests to see where you are and try to improve your scores as much as you can - I had a 330 pt increase after taking a 9 week course. Even though that didn’t save me, it will certainly help your chances. The GPA and class rank are major at NU, do your homework at home, study for tests until you have mastered the material (at home). Your unweighted GPA could move up .3 or .4 if you make straight As. Good luck, and always set your goals high

Why thank you gasocceref!

Yes, the 3.5 is unweighted and I am striving for a 4.0 this next semester. I recently took the PSAT and with the exception of math, my scores were outstanding. I will have to put all my effort into now!

Any other tips?
