low gpa...

Freshman from UC berkeley.
My gpa this semester is way far below that what i've expected..
it's only 3.57 but i was aiming to transfer to SFS of Georgetown/Columbia/Chicago
(prefer smaller class size.. and the programs they offer! esp SFS's International Relations)
i guess it has to do with my carelessness at finals?
anyways. i'm taking 3 political science courses (A+AB+)and 1 econ upperdivision on Game Theory (B)...
does the rigor help compensate for my real low gpa (for an aspriing transfer)?

SAT: 2190
British A-Levels: AABBB (dun hv high schl gpa. m an international student)
HS activites: real great, i guess :P (7 years in choir, international choral competitions, ballet vocational stream etc)
College activites: UC choir, campus public interest group, non-paid internship with a washington DC based social venture

sigh.

i should have picked easier courses in the first place.. cos i've been thinking about transferring out earlier (i applied to SFS and got rejected last time)

since i would prefer sophomore transfer to junior transfer, i'm not going to wait more semesters, so no chances of pulling up my gpa....

should i still go ahead? or should i stop wasting time on this transfer thingie and focus on wt's on my plate?

A 3.57 GPA for UC Berkeley is not that low and schools like Georgetown and UChicago will understand. Compared to other students who have a 3.8 GPA from other top 50s, UC Berkeley is the #1 Public school, a public ivy and admission officers know that.

Go for it!
