I plan on transferring at the end of my sophomore year at a state school to a top 30 school, but my high school GPA is very low(1.5) with a 2100 (710M 700 W 690 R). If my college gpa is around 3.7 with good lor and ec do I stand a fair chance or is not worth applying?
I’m pretty sure high school GPA doesn’t matter when transferring,
@y23491 why do they require it then?
The answer is: it depends. For some universities, they could not care less what your high school transcript looks like (as long as you graduated high school). However, for top 30 schools, your high school accomplishments still matter, just not as much. The UCs are a set of one such exception.
Even if they do require your HS transcript, they will be much more interested in your college transcript. You also have a very interesting turn-around story to tell in your essays and/or for one of your recommenders to write about in their letter. Go ahead and apply.
