My dad has been unemployed for a year and a half (well, he works a part-time job, about 15 hours per week) and my mom is an assistant manager at a movie rental store. Their combined income is only about $16k per year. Will this hurt my chances, since I will obviously need a lot of financial aid? :( Just wondering...

Theoretically it shouldn't matter. Most schools are "need-blind" which means they look at ur application first and choose to accept/reject you. After they make their decision, they look at your financial situation, and provide what you may need. Based on your income, I'd say you can get almost all of your college education paid for you if you can get in to a lot of schools

Thanks a lot for your reply. I was worrying that first of all, my sitution would hurt my chances, and second of all, that I wouldn't be able to pay. Your post was reassuring. :)

no problem, just make sure that you get the FAFSA filled out!

I question certain schools that claim "need-blind"....brown...

for legal reasons, I'm pretty sure they're all need blind. Brown is need-blind, they just probably give you exactly as much as you need and no more.
