Low Income Student HELP In making educated decision

Hi, so I’m a low income student (Cali Resident /Bay Area) and just applied for transfer for quite a few schools. I’m worried that I may not be able to afford to even attend a university. I’m also a 1st generation student (applied to EOP) so I’m not quite sure what I’m suppose to do when it comes to choosing a university in general. So far I got accepted to SFSU, CSUEB, & CSUN. I’m waiting on UCR, UCSC, Cal Poly Obispo, SDSU, CSULA and CSUF. I’m really nervous for when I do get my admission decisions and find out how much financial aid these schools would offer me if I do get in… My parents income alone is below 6,000 for the whole year of 2017 (one parent was unemployed), while plus my own income it’s still less than 12,000. I already filled out my fafsa application and put that information in. I’m really nervous , can someone explain to me what to do or how I can be eligible for grants? Or what schools will likely be more affordable for me.

For someone like you, a UC will be most affordable. I hope you get into one.

Thank you. I hope so too. The UC tuition cost seems to be more than state though. Do UC’s reward financial aid more often than states?

Did you run the Net Price Calculators for the schools? Depending upon your situation, they can give accurate estimates of your FA.

I didn’t know there was calculators for that. That’s awesome , I’ll try it out and see. Thank you!
