I've wanted to go to Wharton since fifth grade, and now that the time has come I'm very nervous. I'll be applying ED next year, but my average will only be about a 96, and my class rank is NOT top five (top ten, though, our of 140). Will that impact my chances of getting in?

PS- I know a 96 average isn't low, but I definitely won't be valedictorian or salutatorian. My school's pretty competitive; the val and sal will have about 98.something averages.

Having an A average and being in the top ten percent is perfectly fine, actually it is quite good! Though, as I’m sure you know, Wharton is an extreme reach for everyone. Do you have any hooks of impressive ECs? Also, make sure your heart is not completely set on one school. Pick out some matches and safeties that you would be happy attending.

Even though GPA is the first thing they would look at, you have to remember that almost everyone else has awesome stats as well. Well, first off, make sure you have GREAT SAT score (2250+) and EC’s and essay and reccs. You can’t expect your 96 avg GPA to be sufficient even though you say that your school is competitive.

Yes, I have pretty great ECs, awards, summer things, community service, etc, and really think I have a good chance at Wharton. I have a lot of business (and a bunch of science/engineering) oriented things and experience.

Also, my SAT score is 2340, and I’ve taken 3 SAT IIs and scored above 750 on them all. I’ve taken 8 AP tests, and gotten seven 5s and one 4.
