my admissions officer is going to be at a bookstore in my local area soon and emailed out offering to meet with anyone "not to be used for admissions decisions". so i went ahead and scheduled a meeting with him, as I am interested in Williams. (the slots are just 30m long)

does anyone have experience with this? is the purpose really just for me to be able to ask questions, or does it also show them who's really interested about Williams in each local area? Does anyone have any advice for me at the "interview"/conversation?

Interviews don’t count. They are not kept in any file nor considered at the committee. However, if the admissions officer is the same one who will be reading your file, a good interview will place a face to the paper file-- so it isn’t “nothing” either.

Have fun, be yourself, have read all about Williams from the web and other guides so that you can ask intelligent questions. Be prepared to say a little something about yourself and why you think there would be a good fit between you and Williams. But mostly this will be an opportunity for you to ask about Williams and the admissions process rather than an interview about you, per se.
