Low level class?

Basically, I grew up in the states, had 8th grade in the UK, and 9th grade in India. We moved back to the US this year (my sophomore year). I ended up taking an average level english class this year.

I didn't take a higher level english class, because honestly I couldn't write at all in the beginning of the year (although I could speak fine, just as well as before I left). In the UK, we didn't do any writing assignments, except one creative writing piece (the sequence is different there) and in India, they didn't teach us how to write either.

Will colleges hold taking a low level english class against me??

No they will not.

bumppppp…

Don’t worry about this one. Now that you feel that you have caught up in your writing skills, sit down with your guidance counselor and make a plan for the rest of your high school education. Contrary to what you can come to believe by reading what is posted here at CC, students do indeed get into good colleges and universities every single year even though they have multiple on-level courses in their academic transcripts!
