low math score...what are my chances?

My SAT scores...
Verbal:800
Writing:750
Math: 510

I know my math is just over average and pretty low for most selective colleges, but I am hoping that my other scores plus my grades plus the fact that I intend to major in a field that is not math-intensive will maybe help a little...what do you think? Do I have a shot at schools such as Brown, Williams, Middlebury, Colgate, Tufts, Amherst? I am planning to apply to a few safeties, but would like to narrow my number of applications as much as possible. Can you give me a decent answer based on that or do you need to know more?

im not gonna lie. that math score will hurt a lot. the fact is, there are too many people applying with your verbal and writing scores, and much higher math scores. unless u can be more specific about grades, ECs, etc, it would be a reach for those schools

SAT II:
US History: 790
Literature:760
Just took Latin, waiting for score

I go to a rural public school of about 900 students, I am 7th out of 211. I have excellent recommendations, and my essays will most likely be very good.
The majority of my classes are A's (my school does not give A-pluses), with one B's and a couple B-pluses. I was not able to take any AP's prior to my senior year due to scheduling conflicts, and more than two this year for the same reason.
Other Stats:

I know there's more, I just thought I'd keep it at that for now.

...bump...

Look at the common data sets for those schools to see how many with your math score were accepted. Almost none.

Does anyone think that there is a chance at all?

You can always practice the math section a lot and retake the SAT,
or see if you can do better on the ACT.

Math is always my lowest score also.

Anyway you look at it, chances are poor for any of those schools. You really need to add some schools that will look past the low math score (maybe ranked below 30) so as not to end up with a safety you're not happy with. I think many schools will look past it, but not the top ones.

I'm a senior, so doing them again is out of the question. I would have retaken them in february, but family issues interfered. Oh well...

Middlebury and Bowdoin dont need to see the math score, you can send any three scores that you want to them, including APs and SATIIs

Say that I applied to a couple of those schools anyway, just for the heck of it...where do you think I might have the best chance of no chance, if that makes sense?

...bump...

please give me some input here...

You can prob get into Midd

would anyone care to comment on my chances on colgate?

Bowdoin and Middlebury have different SAT guidelines and Bowdoin does not accept "any three tests" Middlebury as noted below does accept a variation of 3 different tests :

BOWDOIN

How important are standardized test scores?
Submission of SAT and ACT scores is optional at Bowdoin, and has been for 30 years. About 20-25% of recent entering classes decided not to submit standardized test results.
Because standardized test results are used for academic counseling and placement, all entering first-year student must submit scores over the summer prior to enrolling

MIDDLEBURY

Middlebury College's revised testing policy reflects the recent changes to the SAT I made by the College Board. Students who plan to reapply to Middlebury College by reactivating a previous application must fulfill the College's new testing requirements. Applicants must submit standardized tests in at least three different areas of study. Beginning with applicants graduating from secondary school in 2006, this requirement may be met by any one of the following three options:

The ACT (either with or without the Writing Test)

The New (three-part) SAT I

Three tests in different subject areas chosen from the
SAT II, Advanced Placement, or International Baccalaureate exams

Students choosing option 3 above may submit exam results that are all of one type (e.g., three SAT IIs, three APs, or three IBs) or may combine tests of different types (e.g., two SAT IIs and one AP), as long as they represent three different areas of study. Students wishing to submit tests in addition to those needed to satisfy the above requirements are welcome to do so.
