My science gpa freshman year was a 2.85 while my freshman accounting gpa was a 1.8. I want to go to graduate school but am confused on which is the most realistic option for me. Which is better, because with the PT route i can make an average prereq gpa while with the Accounting route my gpa will be subpar? The catch is Accounting classes are easier than science classes.
Well, do you want to be a physical therapist or do you want to be an accountant?
Seems to me that is the more important question. You don’t want to choose your career on the basis of which graduate program is currently the easiest for you to get into.
Right now you’re not going to grad school. So, before you think about grad school, think about pulling those grades out of “probation” range and into “passing” range. Once your GPA is at 3.0, start thinking grad school again.
If accounting courses are ‘easier’ you should be earning much better grades. And you will need a bunch of A’s if you plan on grad school.
I understand. I say they are easier mainly because I didnt try in my accounting classes vs in science classes Id study like crazy to get a C(and thats just freshman level). I just want to choose the career choice that has the best rate of return so i can pay off my debt faster.
It isn’t clear that taking on more debt for grad school will help you pay off all of your debt sooner. In business, you might find an employer who is willing to help pay to send you to grad school part time. And yes, good grad programs aren’t interested in C students.
Edited to mention that your other post suggests that your overall GPA is 1.6. If you are seeking the best rate of return on your education dollar, don’t get Ds in classes. Are you able to return in the fall?
Im going to have to transfer to community college
If you happen to like both professions equally, and your new community college offers both, I’d choose accounting. There’s a lot of creative work available in that field; you will always find work; it pays well.
