Low Rise 7 Yuck?

My D just got put in a single in Low Rise 7. It looks yucky. She is a little upset. What do you think?

My son was in Low Rise 6 a couple of years ago. He had a great time and made lots of friends!

(I think the low rises have a better floor arrangement than the high rises, which seem a little isolating to me.)

Singles are always better than having a roomie…she should be thankful, lol.

LR7 is actually awesome. I lived there last year and made tons of close friends. The structure of the dorm really helps people bond.

Low Rise 7 singles are the best- the biggest singles on Cornell Campus! Your daughter will definitely have a great time. I was in LR 7 my freshmen year and really enjoyed it!

I love good news in the morning! Thanks CCers.

No question about it, the Lowrises’ “bad reputation” is completely off the mark. While it may be unsightly from the outside, its actually has a great floor arrangement that makes it really easy to make friends. The suite style makes the dorm seem more homey and give you your own semi-private area yet is still very open to people. Your D will know everyone on her floor by the end of the first week and will probably become great friends with most of them.

LR7 bathrooms were recently renovated making them actually better than restrooms in dickson and high rises.

yeah i like LR7 because it’s easy to go in and out of. although it only has stairs so laundry might get annoying sometimes.

I was in a lowrise and got a better freshman experience then some people in Balch who never spoke to their sink mate.

im in LR6, are LR6 and 7 pretty much the same?

I’m in LR6 too. Got a single, lucky me. Is LR7 the same? It’s right next to each other. And looks similar.

lowrises 6 and 7 are exactly the same

Is there any need to bring shelves or some type of storage unit? Do you think it would fit? They show the room outline but don’t give dimensions. What do kids usually bring? cubes maybe?

i know there’s space under the bed for those drawer type containers…

the desk is usually spacy enough for books

Trust me… You shouldnt be disappointed. I lived in Ujamma last year the all african ameircan program house which is technically called lowrise #10 (mind you I am a blonde caucasian male who did not request the program house) and if anything it pushed me to go out and meet people at other dorms. People in my dorm were unfriendly and treated me very differently but on the upside my RA was super chill and let me drink and blaze outside no issues as long as I was discreet. Your situation could be worse so it really up to you to make the best of it. You will have a great experience anyways… at least Ujamaa was a conversation starter at frats
