Low SAT, High ACT -- Will they care?

Quick question, even though I know I won’t get a true yes/no answer I just thought I would hear the opinions of people on this forum.

I scored a 36 on my ACT, but a lower SAT score (equivalent to a 32-33 on the ACT) when I took it through my school. At first I thought I would be able to only send in my ACT(counselor said the SAT doesn’t even go on transcript), but I just realized that since my state requires high schoolers to take the SAT, and with Stanford’s policy, the ad-coms would probably be really suspicious if I only reported ACT (and SAT Subject Tests).

My question is if you think they would disregard the SAT score I got in favor of the ACT, or if instead that SAT score is gonna weigh down my application?

Bottom line just send the ACT, they won’t care about the SAT.

@CU123 The problem is that I still am going to send in my SAT Subject Test scores, which I did well on. Won’t collegeboard send a report of all the tests I have taken? Also the admission’s policy states to send ALL test scores, so wouldn’t they easily find out that I didn’t send the SAT when my state requires it for all high school juniors?

Actually is looks like they have gone to score choice so no need to send the SAT. So you can self report and not send anything official until offered admission. In fact that looks like the recommended way to do it.

Required testing:
ACT or SAT (Writing/Essay not required)
Stanford will accept scores from both the old SAT and the new SAT.
We will review applications from all students using either self-reported or official scores. If you would like to have official scores sent, it is fine to use the College Board’s Score Choice option or the equivalent offered by the ACT.

How to report your test scores:
We recommend that you simply self-report your highest scores in the testing section of the application. You can also have official scores sent to Stanford, but this is not required for us to review your application.

@CU123 Thank you so much! That is soooo relieving.

Stanford Class of 2022 here! I was almost exactly like you- had a 36 on the ACT and the equivalent of a 33 on the SAT which I only took to qualify as a National Merit Finalist. I sent and self-reported the ACT, and only sent my SAT IIs, not the SAT score. Obviously they didn’t hold it against me!
