Low SAT- Please chance me for highly selective schools!

If you don’t get the SAT scores you want consider studying for and taking the ACT in the fall.

As a bit of unsolicited advice, I’d recommend that you give up the idea of a dream school and work to create a solid college list that includes reach, match, and safety schools that appear affordable (find out your parents’ budget and run the net price calculator for each school) and that you would be happy to attend. The people I see who get hurt by the college admission process are the ones who focus on one or two hyper-competitive schools and then don’t get in. There are many wonderful schools out there where you can have a great 4 year experience and get where you want to go in life.

I did try the ACT twice but the timing was just too rushed for me personally and I found that if I did complete it, then I got more wrong, but when I didn’t complete a section all the ones I did complete were correct.

Also in response to what you said- I have a “second” choice, but it is honestly probably about “equal” with Notre Dame it just doesn’t have the same name recognition. I would be very happy there, too, and based off of stats I should have no problem getting in. Thank you for your advice though! I really appreciate it!

1450 is not a low SAT. Depending on the curve it is either 98th or 99th percentile. My son missed a single question on the Math portion and scored a 760. Admins know this. They are looking for other things in your application to push you over the top.

Hi all! Just wanted to update on my SAT to see if it would change anyone’s opinion on my chances. I got a 1510 (720 reading/writing 790 math). Thanks!

Good for NotreDame. Try other schools like Swarthmore as well
