Low SAT scores..but not bad otherwise.Help!

i'm an Indian applicant.took the june sat.Scored 1670 (M : 600 , CR : 510 and W : 560 )
I know the scores are not good , but thats what i have to apply with.
I have very good ECs and have some awards as well.I'm the class topper in academics. It is hard to believe , but i don't know what happened with the SAT.I wish i had done well.
I can't pay more than 10k.
Tough for me, i know..but still..
What universities do you think i should consider?
Thanks.

white rose I sympathise with you .sorry I am in no position to help as i am in same dilemma(scores below expectations)

Rose chillax. Theres lot of time and YOU WILL DO BETTER next time with few weeks prep. there is DEC Oct and Nov . IT (Indian Thread) has experienced ones they will help you

Yeah.I'll be retaking the SAT in October.

~2170 is a good score buddy, dont worry.Wish you luck.

About the SAT : Does it harm if one erases the already-filled-up answer choice circle, and fills up another one?

not if you do it nicely I mean i rubbed a lot in one of my SAT and no adverse affects

i mean I completely erased traces of lead from the oval (wrong ones)

why dont you apply to places that make the test optional? like middlebury, bates, trinity etc... you might do better in your SAT II's

thanks guys...
what other places have the SAT as an optional requirement?

sat optional:
connecticut college (LOVES international students), bowdoin, holy cross, muhlenberg
the full list is at:
www.fairtest.org

thanks!
According to www.fairtest.org , the SAT is optional for UT Austin too.Does it give out scholarships according to class rank/ gpa/sports etc , or on the basis of the SAT score only?
Fyi , I will be applying for EE.

neah SAT isnt optional for UT Austin...and if they do take in then there is no finaid and i think you do need aid.....

You need to tell us what type of colleges you are looking at and then we might be able to help you better....

I suggest again to all Indian students to post their queries on the TiT....we are there to help (and well waste time til college ;) )....but the experience of others will be valuable to you in multiple ways...and i'll be giving out this advice to join TiT few more times (till i can)...most guys dont check every random thread so you would do yourself good if u direct queries there..

Looking at the SAT scores of yours I suggest you apply ED to Elmira College where I got admitted too. My SAT is the same as yours. If you are the Valedictorian of your class you might quyalify for the Valedictorian scholarship which would be full tuition waiver.

I am still surprised to be waitlisted in middlebury with those bad grades and low SATs

EE with a 600 math ande needing aid will make all but the lowest ranked colleges impossible. Elmira sounds plausible, but do the give internationals aid?

I am an international and I got the Valedictorian scholarship worth $29000. If you rank 1st in your class then I think you should apply to Elmira ED. My SAT was 1340 so you might have some problem because of the SAT which is comparatively low. I was also sected by OWU ($23000 aid), Lake forest ($21000) and Brevard ( I totally ignored the college and the aid once I was selected by Elmira).

White Rose, I got 1890 in my SAT and got into UT Austin. If you do better in your next go you certainly have a chance. But I seriously doubt that UT will give aid to Internationals. Even though I'm a US citizen, I got very little aid from UT.

go for Midland Lutheran college in Nebraska or Augsburg College
