Low SAT scores

Hi guys

I was wondering if you guys could tell me how I stand with top tier colleges
So I have around a 4.1/4.3 (my school gives out A+) unweight GPA
Got 5s on AP Physics, AP Macroecon, AP Studio Art
and I'm captain of the volleyball team, president of a community service club and involved in student council
my SAT 2s (physics, math 2, chinese) are coming out in 3 days.. and I'm sure I aced them.
I'm sure my counselor recs will be good too.
(Also, I'm from a underrepresented country and I'm willing to pay full tuition..)

But my problem is that I have a 1850 (500+ for CR, low 700 for math and 600+ for Writing)

Do you think I still have a shot at the Ivies? I really want to go to Princeton or Yale..

What do you think I should do?

the 1850 will lower your chances significantly, even though you do well in other areas. You should try to retest?

Take the ACT and see if that’s more your thing

Agreed, try the ACT, I found it to be much easier. Especially the critical reading aspect of the test

Get a tutor. My friend went up over 200 points. Or try the ACT. I don’t think you can get into an ivy with below a 2000 if you aren’t an athlete.

Thanks for the suggestions! But sadly, we don’t have the ACT in my country so the only option is to retake the SAT. I’ve signed up for the SATs again in december but i’m doubtful that my score can go up at this point…

@itslexie13, i do play volleyball and basketball but i’m not at the level of US colleges so that doesnt count, does it?

Please reply! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1579856-how-do-i-tell-her-she-wont-get.html

Apply “just to see” but without a national or international award to offset your test scores, odds are minuscule that you’ll get in.
What do you like about Yale so that we can suggest schools that are similar? (New England? Architecture? A specific major?)
You need to target LACS ranked 20+, or national universities starting from Emory on, plus schools such as UCSD, Penn State, Georgia Tech or UWA.
If you want “prestigious national universities” where your being full pay is a hook in itself, look at the UC’s and UMichigan in addition to those above.

If you’re volleyball captain, look for D3 schools where you could be recruited.
How good are you at that sport (and how good is your team)?
