Thanks for reading this. I just got back my SAT subject scores from May, and they seem low to me. I took US History and Chemistry (planning to take one more subject in the fall), and got a 770/780 respectively. I am looking at some ivies and other very selective schools and hoping for merit aid at some places. I took APUSH and AP chem this year and got an A+ in APUSH (101%) and an A in AP chem (96%). I anticipate a 5 on the APUSH exam and a 4 or 5 on the chemistry exam. In terms of other testing I got a 35 on the ACT. Will my low-ish subject test scores hurt me?
Those subject tests are not low. I just found out I got an 800 on US History, but when colleges look at you and me, our SAT subject scores won’t be any different, because anything 750+ is pretty much acceptable to them. Everything else looks pretty solid, so just focus on EC’s and essays. Don’t stress about standardized testing.
@sciencestudent @DeeperBlue25 Wow, both amazing scores. Which prep book did either of you use for us history?
Is this a joke thread? Lad, your scores are exceptional and don’t listen to anything you read on CC that says otherwise.
@ambitionsquared I went in cold (probably not a great plan) after taking APUSH
@CiteYourSources Okay, thanks, that was good to hear. I was worried because of percentiles, for us history 91st and for chemistry 84th… But hopefully those will be fine.
Your lowish scores?!? Are you kidding, you’re fine, unless you have something really bad like getting arrested on your records you have literally nothing to worry about
