Hey!
I did 2 SAT Subject Tests and the new SAT twice. I got a 1500 on my SAT (with 800 in math), but a 690 in my Chemistry Subject Test and a 750 in my Math II Subject Test.
I am applying to top tier schools and have submitted all these scores. In my application I states I want to major in Economics and I am an international student. Do you think the SAT Subject Test scores will be a very negative aspect of my application?
If the schools don’t require subject tests, I would not send the Chemistry Test because >700 is looked down upon for top tier schools.
Yes, you definitely need to retake both of them. Math II Subject test should hover around a 780-800, no less if you want to apply to top tier schools, meaning Top 30. Your science SAT II subject test should hover around a 760+, no less.
This is assuming that you are asian/white with no URM status or hooks.
^ I have read more than one poster that stated above 700 is fine. I have never seen 750+ expected. Where did those numbers come from?
The OP has already applied.
Complete and utter nonsense.
The 750 is fine. The 690 is a bit on the low side, but people have been accepted to top schools with Subject Test scores beginning with a 6. At this point, it is what it is. Good luck.
For the record, 750 is a 750, regardless if it’s Math 2 or Chinese or USH. It is important to understand that for several subjects, the percentiles are depressed because so few colleges request Subject Tests, that the ones that do are the ultra selective ones. As a result, it is the high achieving kids taking the tests. No AO is sitting on the floor cross-referencing scores with percentiles.
