Low SAT writing score

Hi I’m a junior and want to attend an undergraduate business school. My SAT is a 1470/1600 (740m and 730cr) but only a 2080/2400, because I got a 610 on writing. Will writing affect me in admissions? I here a lot of conflicting views on whether or not it matters.

Some schools outright say that they don’t consider writing. Check the common data set for each school you’re interested in.

If you do end up retaking, know that the writing is more easily studied for than the reading, on which you already have a great score. Get a book such as Erika Meltzer’s grammar guide. The SAT tests the same grammar questions over and over.

@green678 thanks

You have great scores, and of the three the writing score matters the least because it is widely perceived as the most unreliable.

I would take it again just because writing is seriously one of the easiest sections to boost your score in my opinion. I think I got like a 610 on writing the first time I took it and a 740 last time I took it. I just did it by studying and doing practice tests from the official sat study guide and crafting an essay ahead of time, there’s a very helpful link on CC about improving writing scores which hopefully someone will post here because I can’t remember what thread it was under. I’d just do it because you’ll need all the help you can get for admissions and seeing as you’re still a junior, you have time to really puff up your applications! Best of luck man, either way you’re pretty good so far!
