low sats high gpa

My son has a low sat score of 1600 all three parts combined but a decent gpa of 4.0 and involved in many school activities. Marching band section leader school govt and many other clubs. I feel his sat score might hold him back. He has taken it two times and I have paid for various tutors and he gets the same score each time. He's a great student but gets nervous when it comes to sat or act test. He likes Rutgers and udell what are his chances at getting in.

Bump

For Rutgers it depends if you’re instate. Assuming you’re in Jersey
NB:
SAS: Definite
Engineering: stretch, depends on the rigor of STEM classes he’s taken
Business: Reach
Nursing/Pharm: High reach
He shouldn’t have a problem getting into Rutgers Newark or Camden

Udel is a reach. He has a chance if his essay is good and his courseload was rigorous, if he had an easy courseload (not a lot of honors classes or took a lot of electives like foods and basket weaving) then I don’t think he has a good shot

Thanks. He has taken science and math honors and 3 ap classes. I just felt his sat scores will hurt him. It stinks since he works so hard in school and hoping his sat scores don’t hurt him. He also applied to Ohio state and Vermont.

I know a friend that got around 1600 and has a 4.0 GPA and he lives in NY. He got into Rutgers. I hope this helps.

Thanks…we can’t wait for some responses to come already. And with his sat score it puts more pressure.

High GPA and low SAT is always better than vice versa. Rutgers should be a match.

Thanks!!!
