Low Science GPA- Need Help With Internship

So I'll be a graduate this May with a degree in biology. I have a 2.815 GPA, no professional/internship/lab experience.
I'm a pretty capable individual. But the main reason for my low GPA is test anxiety. Sometimes, no matter how hard I'd study, I'd freak out so bad during exams that I'd blank out and score poorly. My first year of college I wasn't anxious on exams and I averaged a 3.6 but the start of the second year up to now was just an ordeal of anxiety.
If it helps, I took 4 extra science classes. I've always aimed at challenging science classes, despite the anxiety.

Most internship require a 3.0 or better. If it wasn't for finances, I'd definitely squeeze in more science.

Should I go for a free internship? Maybe volunteer in a professor's lab?
I don't want my employers to rank my intelligence by my GPA.
