Low Scores, Strong ECs - Please Chaance for HYSPM, UCB and UCLA

Very stresssed out about where I stand right now as I have just been rejected by CMU and Caltech. Can someone please see how I would possibly fare in my other applications:

Asian male from public Southern CA high school

SAT: 1520 (M:800 R:720)
ACT: 34C (35E,36M,30R,33S)
SAT II: 800 Math 2, 780 Chemistry
AP (Should I Omit?): 5-Chemistry, Calculus AB/BC, Chinese, USH, 4-Spanish Lang, Biology, CSA, Euro, 3-English Lang
GPA: 4.76 (W), 3.97(U/W)

Siemens Competition Semifinalist
FBLA President (4 years, finalist many times)
Boy Scouts Eagle with Gold Palm
City Youth Advisory Commission Chairman
Research Intern in Machine Learning at University of California
Berkeley MUN Reseach Award

Recommendations
Counselor (7/10) - Knew me for strong academics, mainly wrote about that course rigor
Math Teacher (8/10) - Wrote about willingess to help others and passion for subject
English Teacher (6/10) - Not sure, knew me as a good student, dont know if she knew more about mee
Mayor (10/10) - Knew me well and wrote very personal and supportive letter
Research Mentor (10/10) - Knew me well and wrote very personal and supportive letter

For Cal, i am applying to the College of Letters & Sciences.

Who do you think your scores are low? I am sorry you were not admitted at those two schools. I would have thought you would get in based on what you have posted here. You will end up at a good place I would imagine. The stress is understandable given the unexpected results so far.

It’s a little low because he’s being compared to other Asians and in the case of Cal Tech and CMU, other Asian males. You have to assume that his fellow applicants had 800s across the board with a 4.0 uw gpa. That being said, he has a good chance at UCB or UCLA since they don’t take race or ethnicity into account. But I hope there’s a safety UC or CSU in there.
