Low Sophomore Grades

Hi everyone,

My brother posted a thread on here a couple weeks ago to help me out but we didn't get quite as many responses/help as we hoped.

The deal is this: I'm currently a sophomore in high school taking by far the most difficult courseload in my entire school. I did not earn the best grades in first semester of the school year and as a result my GPA UW fell from 3.92 to 3.79. Most of my Bs came in my science and tech classes an I'm planning on majoring in engineering ><. Retrospectively, I think I should've taken an easier courseload but not much I can do about it now. I'm happy to report I now have straight As in all classes and my GPA is up to 3.82 thus far.

If I continue to maintain As this year and in junior year, my GPA will rise to pretty decent levels, Prob 3.87-3.92-ish. Even though I had a few low grades in major related classes this year, could I still salvage my chances in top colleges?

Thank you very much in advance for your kind responses, I appreciate your taking time out to listen and reply.

By the way, my W GPA fell from 4.46 to 4.39.

Thanks again!!

Well the good thing is that you shouldn’t stress about it as the year is almost over. My advice would be to continue to take the most rigorous courses possible and do your best in them. Again, no point to dwell on the past, just do your best going forward as more weight is placed on junior year grades than any other year.

Thank you for your reply!

Yes, that is my plan now and I’m really relieved to hear you say that about junior year > sophomore year. Will my grades from first semester absolutely kill my chances though?

Please guys?

no they wont kill your chances

do well with what you have left

Have you chosen your classes for junior year yet?

I have. For junior year:
