ummmm… how are those crappy?? I would kill for your SAT scores..lol

i am applying w/ a 1950 SAT.. a lot of the postings i have made said i looked pretty good.. so you obviously will be fine :)…

The GPA is crappy by Cal standards, and GPA is highly important. That said, you have a very good chance at admission (~75%.)

I’d say slight reach. Your ECs are awesome, but your GPA is not. Thus, depending on which one they look at more, you may be accepted or rejected; it really could fall either way, so I’d say 50-50 (slight reach).

The test scores are so good that they balance out the GPA weakness, and the ECs (if you describe them well in your essays) seal the deal.

Sigh, crosses fingers

Berkeley doesn’t care that much about scores; only too often they reject students with high scores simply because their GPA is low. Now, together with strong ECs, he stands a good chance, but we don’t know whether the adcoms will think that his SAT and ECs make up for his grades; thus, it could go either way, really.

i am proof of crappy stats that you can get in with it.

math ii- 600
lit- 460
act-22 (took it twice.. same score)

but my W gpa was a 4.1

i think my essay & ECs got me in.

Really try to explain the reason for your GPA in your application.

reach…high SATs+low GPA= slacker-status

even if you’re not, that’s a big red flag. Try to explain it, unless you don’t have an explanation, in which case write convincing essays. GL!
