i would imainge there has to be other factors that determine acceptence, if the majority of ppl have high gpa and apply, how would they pick out of all the qualified ppl?

ok... i checked..
again.. as for UCLA there is a IGETC honors transfering program for the California community college if you maintain a GPA above 3.2 and they'll accept you once you finish the program (guarantee admission)
60 units minimum (18units have to be honor classes in the program)

with 3.5 GPA or higher finishing the honors program.. you get accepted to any public school in the state of California which includes Berkeley

hope if this helps

talk to your counselors in community colleges in California for more information on this..

Good grades are only one part of the whole picture. They pick out the real applicants through the essays, and to a lesser degree, the letters of recommendation.

GaussGodden, where did you get that information? Because as far as I know is that there is no guarantee... I know that TAP has a 90% admittance rate at UCLA (not guaranteed), but Berkeley does not participate in this program and most of the time a 3.5 still is a reach for Berkeley.

that is what my community college counselor told me...
it's honors transfer program...
not just me.. a lot of other people who went to community all told me the same thing and they all got into Berkeley.. but limited to California community college students
who complete all the general education requirement for Berkeley and UCLA and minimum 60 units with 18 units of class from honors program

GaussGodden,

Berkeley does not participate in TAP. TAP with UCLA is, as Veritas said, about 90%. Also, TAP requires 15 honors units, with only a few exceptions requiring 16 or 18 honors units (like PCC). TAP requires only a 3.0 and in some cases a 3.25, not 3.5.

True and you don't have to have that completed by the time you apply. Just as long as TAP is completed by the spring prior to your transfer. Tap is for sure not a 100% guarantee... although all my friends that have been accepted to UCLA have been in TAP, its still not 100%.

I didn't know other colleges only require 15 units!! thats not fair...
