hello. i asked a similar question in the business major forum but it seems more appropriate here. i just finished my second year at usc studying anthropology, and i want to add another major/minor. i originally thought i wanted to go to grad school for anthro, but i don't think i want to do that anymore.

i'm thinking that, as soon as i graduate, i would like to have a simple, 9-5, relatively low stress/time commitment job that still has decent pay, and spend my time not working on my other interests (namely art and music) until i figure out exactly what i want to do from there on out.

so basically i want to add a major/minor that'll help me get a job like that. i might be able to find something with anthro but it'll definitely be difficult. if i want to graduate in four years, my only real options right now seem to be a major in econ, a minor in econ, or a minor in accounting. which of these do you think would make it the easiest to find the kind of job i want after graduating?

thanks guys..

Accounting, but talk about boring in my opinion...

In my experience, your major/minor is not as relevant as what you have done in your free time. Recruiters look for things that define you as a person, that show who you are. Competencies such as leadership and teamwork are essential, so they want to see moments in your life were you have demonstrated to have those. At the end, anyone can have an econ minor, but not every person can be a good team member or an inspiring leader.

thanks for the advice. i do have some pretty good leadership experience with my extracurriculars. im pretty sure that for a job like accounting, though, that coursework is pretty important.

i guess my real question is can i get a job in accounting with just a minor in it.... or with a major in econ... or is there a job with similar working conditions which would be relatively easy to obtain with a major in econ.

again, i know that there are a lot of factors besides coursework, but right now i'm just trying to figure out how to plan my future coursework, so that's what i'm thinking about.

thanks.

Mutual funds, take a look at a company like Fidelity.
