Low subject test scores = BAD?

SO like many of you I am fretting about my chances even though the actual results will be out in just two days...

Here are my overall stats from another thread... http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/820468-9-days-19-hours-now-youll-know-if-youre-right-any-last-minute-guesses.html

But my biggest problem is my scores....I have mid 600's on my subject tests and a 30 on my ACT. Does anyone have any success stories for people who got in with low scores lol?

I guess I am just looking for hope lol...

i had 620 on chem and 780 on math 2. i got ino mit, duke, uchicago, northwestern etc. i dont think subject tests are too important.

I saw om another thread that you applied to Northwestern and UChicago, correct? did you get in? if you did, your subject test scores probably isn’t your weakest link.

If it makes you feel any better, I got a 30 on my ACT as well.

they’re not that important, but they should be preferably above 700

Mine are 740 Math II, 650 USH (■■■ I studied my ass off for this. Got a 5 on the AP though!), and 600 French w/ listening.
How’s this look for Wharton, Yale, Cornell, Harvard?

Honestly, I think of all the elements of an application, colleges are probably most willing to shrug off weak SAT Subject Test scores, especially nowadays (what with Harvard lowering subject test requirement and UC’s getting rid of the requirement altogether).

Yeah, I’m really nervous because I got a 620 on Literature (yikes!) even though I generally do pretty well in English classes. In addition, I got a 780 on Math I and an 800 on Math II, even though math is not my strongest subject. I guess I just do better on standardized math tests???

630 literature, 640 math II (VERIFYING SCORES RIGHT NOW), expecting 600s on bio next week… ■■■. I’m looking for hope, too.

Quick stats: Asian f from Canada, 95%, top 3%, 2200 superscore SAT Reasoning

If you are expecting 600s…then why are you taking it lol?

Unfortunately for me, subject tests don’t matter all the much in your application. I got 800 Lit, 800 Math II and 760 US but only 2230 on the actual SAT. If only subject tests were more important…

I wish that Subject tests are not important  !!

Then I wouldn’t have to worry about my 610 in math II lol.

haha I wish that subject tests didn’t matter at ALL. I think this is the order of importance (for objective data only):

1) GPA
2) Rank
3) SAT Reasoning/ACT
4) SAT Subject Tests

^^^My school does not give ranks…so… straight from GPA to SAT? :/

my school doesn’t OFFICIALLY rank (schools in canada don’t rank), but they do have an unofficial ranking list, based on school average. My class has over 300 people and I’m within top 10, so that means I’m in top 3%.

They give percentile (I’m in the top 13%), but not official, nor unofficial ranks. My class has 1,133 people.

^whoaa your class is huge! My entire school has about that many people lol I don’t know if I should indicate rank on the Common App or not, because the rank isn’t official (Canadian schools don’t rank), but there is a ranking list-should I or should I not? My friend put in her rank anyway and had no problems

“Unfortunately for me, subject tests don’t matter all the much in your application. I got 800 Lit, 800 Math II and 760 US but only 2230 on the actual SAT. If only subject tests were more important…”

That’s a competitive SAT with perfect subject test scores. Based solely on SAT scores, you’re almost certainly a more attractive applicant than someone with a 2300 SAT and subject test scores around 700.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: My GC said that if it isn’t official then don’t report it. That’s why I didn’t report my percentile…they said they would have it on the transcript.

okay, I’ll ask my GC to see if the % will appear on the transcript for us, since we’re Canadian and probably have different systems than you guys
