After checking my HS transcript i found out that i still have a very low unweighted GPA of around 3.3
However, my weighted GPA ends up in the 3.9 range due to AP's and most of my B's and 1 C(urghh!) came from high level AP classes like AP Biology.(with a decent upward trend)
First of all, i dont know how this will affect my school rank as it is a competitive large public school in NJ.

I know myself pretty well and i can say that i am very intelligent, just made very stupid lazy choices with my time management in HS, which i will def change in college.

I do however have good SAT's
(2240/2400) and (1520/1600)
and i have pretty decent EC's and other stuff

My question is how bad will this work against me if i still want to apply to many highly-ranked schools such as:
Cornell University
Northwestern University
Johns Hopkins
Washington U. in St. Louis
U. of Michigan
Emory
BU
and others

Do I even have a shot at these schools? and
Does anyone else have this problem....or has and still ended up in their #1 school?

Thanks guys

Every one has a shot, but you dont have great chances. If you can get waivers then I think you should, maybe they’ll see you had a harder scheduel than the average chump. Hope they see it in mines (6 ap’s in senior year :))

I think you have a pretty good chance considering you have GREAT SAT scores, and your GPA isn’t all that bad… jyst work on your EC’s, leadership, and volunteer work, as well as your essays and whatnot so you can get a chance. Big schools like that want someone with character.

Cornell University - High Reach
Northwestern University - Low Match
Johns Hopkins - Low Reach
Washington U. in St. Louis - Match, In
U. of Michigan - Match, In
Emory - Match, In
BU - Match, In

Good luck!

Chance me please!

Cornell University- high reach
Northwestern University- high reach
Johns Hopkins- reach
Washington U. in St. Louis- reach
U. of Michigan- low reach
Emory- low reach
BU- low reach

I really feel bad for you. You have such great standardized test scores, but your entire transcript is marred due to that UW gpa. I wouldn’t say that you are match/in at washU, michigan, emory, or BU, just because of the GPA. I know that UM really stresses a good GPA in its admissions process.
Good luck though. Again, congrats on your good test scores. Those may surely get you in.
Chance me back too, thanks.

hmmm

Cornell University- reach
