Lower amount of eligible applicants for Haas 2006

I did not think it was possible for people to still make the same mistakes on their application but here are the new figures from Haas:

2006-2007 Transfer Admission Cycle

Admission Pool & Class Size

Applications Received 1136
Eligible Applicants 340*
Offers of Admission 90
Entering Class Size 83

Statistics for Enrolled Students

GPA

Average GPA 3.91
Middle 80% GPA Range 3.78-4.00

Age Distribution

Average Age 22
Age Range 17-39

Demographics

Underrepresented Minorities 18.07%
Minorities 53.01%
Women 30.12%

796 applicants did not show planned completion of the admission requirements and were considered ineligible. Of the 340 eligible applicants, 90 were offered admission.

That's really sad. But look at it this way - if you have your requirements and are "eligible" you are applying to a school that actually has a 26% acceptance rate. Sweet.

^I know it is definitely encouraging!

what's with the age range

What The ****************************************

dude i really dont know what's happening here. not only were there a lesser amount of applicants, but there was a jump by 300 to the sheer number of people who didnt complete the prereqs. if anything, our competition is going to increase significantly. I mean, it is totally not possible for us to get lucky like this again. that's the end story. i just dont believe it is happening...especially with the level of competition i've only seen on these boards, i think we're going to face a much, much tougher application pool. we are guaranteed a max of 800, and approx a low of 300. everything else from there..i dont know..

dude. look at the sheer volume of 4.0's..to create such a heavy and ridiculous skew, that..i dont even know what to say

the only reasoning i can give for this is that 06-07 must have been a fluke year

I know it so crazy. Do these people not read the requirements?? How can this many people not understand the process?

Women 30.12%

:(

i believe it and i think it will happen for again.....A LOT of people dont really understand how hard it is to get into HAAS and they just say, "im going to apply and see what happens" or "oh snap, i havent completed the minumum requirments, but i will apply anyways".... everyone that has been posting on the HAAS thread as well as this one knows whats up...we have our stuff together and i think we will all get in.....it dont think that its stupidity that causes that many people to "mess it up" but rather that people that arent taking it seriously wanna see what happens.....i spoken to a couple of people like this at my CC...

"i think we're going to face a much, much tougher application pool"

It is going to be MUCH thougher this year. Last year from my CC a number of "underqualified" people got in, and this year there are 4 or 5 people applying with 4.0's. I really think last year was a fluke.

"oh snap" lol

im glad you liked that pellman.....at my CC its tough to gauge where everyone is i only know of one person that has a 4.0.........last year i think only 1 out of 10 people who got in had 4.0s...so we will see.....from my perspective at my CC it looks like competition will be easier

Wow, those figures are certainly startling to say the least. But to everyone who believes this year will be more competitive, what is your reasoning behind that? Is the trend usually like if one year admissions weren't "very competitive", then that makes the next year more competitive? Anyone know? Thanks.

Does anyone know where to find last years stats for comparison?

There were 500 eligible applicants last year out of almost the same number total applicants. This is a LARGE drop...
