Lower-Division Transfer: Please help? (NorCal Schools)

Hello,

I am a current incoming first-year (freshman) to Cal Poly Pomona and after visiting the school for orientation and etc, I found that it wasn't where I wanted to be, nor did the school have a minor that I desperately want (Art). When I applied for college as a high school student, I was stupid and chose schools that were relatively far from home. Ideally, I want to transfer to a NorCal school after one year at CPP and I would greatly appreciate any thoughts and opinions on the options I'm considering below:

To UC Davis:
UC Davis is the only NorCal UC that accepts Lower-Division transfers, but it is extremely hard and I don't know if it is worth the risk. I would have to go in as an undeclared student if miraculously accepted. I also heard that they don't read the essay portion for transfers so I am iffy on this route.

To CCC for 1 year then to UCD through TAG program
This is a more roundabout way of doing things but this is an almost sure way to be accepted into UCD.

To SJSU/other Cal State after 2 years at CPP
I would prefer not to be in CPP for 2 years, but SJSU also accepts Spring applications so I'm hoping I can apply in 1.5 years (granted my units will be enough).

If anyone could voice their opinions on my options or help me in any way, that would be great! Thank you so much for your time!

If relevant:
Major: Biology (with emphasis in Microbio, hopefully) (and a minor in Art if I can)
UC GPA: 3.8
SAT: M640/CR660/W600
Various clubs (5) in HS, a few internships, and shadowing in Dentistry offices. (I'm aiming for dental school.)
3-5's in 4AP tests

Again, thank you!!

Transfer to a CSU is difficult if you’re not coming in from a CCC. They heavily prioritize CCC students and completed course load.

If Davis really does accept lower-division transfers, although it’s my first time hearing this, why don’t you give it a shot? If you don’t get in the first time, then you can always enroll at a CCC and join TAG. (Unless there is some requirement stating you cannot join if you applied already…)

Make sure you read the recommended/required courses list for the school and the major and adjust your schedule accordingly. Davis is much easier to get into as a transfer student in my opinion. If you achieve and maintain a good college GPA, then you can even shoot for Berkeley, which I think is a reachable goal for you.

If you have no intention of staying at CPP to graduation, starting at a community college may be a better option to transfer to a UC or (other) CSU, since course articulation is known and documented at http://www.assist.org .

Thanks so much for the answers! They were enlightening. :)

UCD does accept lower-division transfers but very very few, so I’ve got a slim chance if I apply there as a lower-division.

My parents are worried about the TAG program so they’re iffy on letting me do it. Also, my dad slacked off in CC and never graduated, so he’s worried that the same will happen to me.

Is the only shot I have of transferring out of CPP from a CCC? I’ve already invested some money into CPP so my parents are slightly pushing me in that direction.

Did you end up transferring, did it work out?
