I am an Asian-American female.
My GPA is currently at a 3.75/4.00 (unweighted)
I've taken 3 honors classes (if taking Algebra 2 & Pre-Cal as a freshmen and sophomore, respectively, counts.)
I've taken AP Calculus, AP Literature, AP Computer Science, AP Macroeconomics, and AP Microeconomics. I've also taken a computer science course at a local state university.

Currently in AP Stats, AP Language, and AP Bio.

My ACT is a 34.

I am capable of getting straight A's, but I've struggled with an eating disorder for the last 8 years of my life. I've spent some time in residential treatment facilities during the school year. I don't want to mention that to colleges, because I don't know how they'd react to that, but I'm disappointed that my grades aren't what they could be. My high school is ranked on the top 400 in the nation, but I don't know if that's really considered good or not.

I'm guessing my recommendations will be average at best, since a majority of my teachers don't know me well enough to say anything unique about me since I've missed so much class.

ECs include:
250 hours of volunteering at a hospital
part time job for 1 year
rotary interact
statewide academic competition

I plan on either majoring in computer science or management information systems.
Chance me for:
Baylor
Bryn Mawr
Lehigh
Bucknell
Notre Dame (sister goes here, not sure if that helps my chances)
UIUC
Wake Forest

You’re allowed one recommendation by another adult: pastor, priest, rabbi, imam; employer; etc… find one adult who knows you well; it could also be your doctor or favorite pediatric nurse: s/he wouldn’t have to describe what s/he is treating you for, in fact that’d be prohibited, but s/he would likely be able to describe your strength of character, etc, and it’d be an indication that you’ve struggled due to medical reasons, not lack of motivation or brainpower :p.

I see a possible contradiction between Notre Dame and Baylor due to the strong religious affilition of both.

Bucknell, Lehigh, Wake Forest: match
Bryn Mawr: reach
UIUC: you’re instate I assume, so safety.

Why not look at CWRU? Why Bry n Mawr and not other women’s colleges, from Agnes Scott in Atlanta to Chatham in Pittsburgh to Mounth Holyoke and Scripps?

I assume UIUC is in state, so numerical safety.
All others require/“recommend” recommendations.

@OP:
Another way to make sure not all recommendations are generic: make a bullet point list of your achievements or whatever matters about your “career” as a HS student, and give it to your HS counselor so s/he can pick a few for his/her recommendation instead of having to dig through your file. At this time of year, counselors are super stressed out so anything to help them will be okay.

MYOS1634 - I’ve visited CWRU before, and I didn’t like it. Also, do you think my coursework is considered “rigorous” enough for the schools I’m planning to apply to? I didn’t necessarily take the hardest course load at my school, I could have taken AP Government and AP Euro too. I’m scared I won’t be able to even be compared to the other applicants.
