I WILL CHANCE YOU BACK if you have a threat posted :)
thank you!

I would say you have approximately the same chance at all of the schools you listed (UChicago would be a bit more unpredictable because of the weight of the essays):

decent.

The only really visible weak spot is your GPA (but make no mistake, it’s a pretty big one).

Your SAT scores (especially the Subject tests) are great, and your ECs show some good initiative and leadership.

Write some great essays and hope for the best!

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/608548-ye-olde-chances-thredde.html</a></p>

Brown University - low reach
Johns Hopkins University - high match
Northwestern University - low reach
Cornell University - high match/low reach
Columbia University - reach
Rice University - low reach
Washington University in St. Louis - reach
Duke University - reach
U.C. Berkeley - in
University of Chicago - depends

hmm. interesing. im trying to eliminate schools from my giant list of colleges :p

Pretty good EC’s, especially with the tennis. Are you good enough to be recruited?
Journalism is pretty good and so are the business awards.

However, even though you have very good SAT’s, your GPA is below average for most of these universities. Your EC’s/SAT score do not completely pull you out of the hole, and I feel like you need to have some strong essays and good teacher recs if you want to be a match.

Nonetheless, you are still a very strong applicant. The best of luck.

Johns/Northw/Cornell/WahU/UChicago/Rice - I expect that you’ll get into at least two of these

Brown University - reach
Johns Hopkins University - slight reach
Northwestern University - slight reach
Cornell University - slight reach
Columbia University - reach
Rice University - slight reach/match
Washington University in St. Louis - slight reach/match
Duke University - slight reach
U.C. Berkeley - match
University of Chicago - slight reach/match

Please? =)

Thanks for the comments!

You have sweet ECs. It sounds like you’re a great writer and creatively minded. If you craft awesome essays (which you probably will), I seriously don’t think you’ll have a problem getting into any of these schools. I have a friend who was wayyy less qualified in terms of GPA and SAT scores, but was super intelligent/witty and wrote really sharp essays. Got into all of his schools, including Uchicago.

Soooo, assuming you take good time to write fantastically :p

Brown University - low reach/match
Johns Hopkins University - low reach
Northwestern University - in
Cornell University - low reach
Columbia University - low reach
Rice University - in
Washington University in St. Louis - match
Duke University - in
U.C. Berkeley - in
University of Chicago - match

It looks like you will have a very strong application…strong SAT’s and SAT II’s, strong senior course load… everything looks pretty good… the only thing that is holding you back is your GPA but you have taken a lot of AP’s so that will most likely help you :)… I would say that you have a pretty good chance of getting into all of those colleges…you are a very strong candidate! My brother goes to Hopkins and I know that GPA is a huge factor in the admission process as Hopkins is more interested in EC’s, GPA, and Course load than your test scores (but they are still very important, just not as important as they are at other top tier schools) but like I said earlier your scores are really high so that will help you a ton! Good luck  I am sure you will get into an amazing school!

how competitive is your high school? how are its academics and is it known for sending ppl to top schools.

I agree that your chances at all of these are about equal. I’d say your chances are decent…your test scores are fabulous, but your GPA will count against you.

(Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/608723-i-d-adore-you-if-you-d-chance-me.html</a>)

you have pretty good chances!!good luck!I am sure u will be accepted at most of these colleges…I just don’t like to write “in” coz I can’t promise it ;)

Brown University -reach
Johns Hopkins University -match
Northwestern University -match
Cornell University -reach for everyone…
Columbia University -same as above
Rice University -low reach
Washington University in St. Louis -match
Duke University -low reach
U.C. Berkeley -match
University of Chicago -low reach

can you chance me back??

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/588180-chance-me-pepperdine-university.html?highlight=Pepperdine</a></p>

You have very good scores and were obviously involved. The fact that you’re from California will hurt you for most of those schools because so many smart kids from California apply. I’m also sorry to say that through affirmative action you will again be downmarked because of being both female and asian. I’m not racist but there are statistically a good deal of smart asians that apply to these schools (stanford rejects kids valedictorians with 15 AP classes and all 5s and perfect scores on the SAT and ACT). Also many highly selective schools with a major exception being MIT are slightly over saturated with female students and thus give a slight benefit to males. All in all though I would be completely schocked if you couldnt get into at least a handful of these schools Good luck-Chance me Please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/753440-chances-any-all-ivies-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Brown University–Low reach, probably 20% odds.
Johns Hopkins University–Match
Northwestern University–Match
Cornell University–35-40%, your gpa is low though. . .
Columbia University–10-15%, you’re in the upper half, even upper quarter of applicants score-wise but your gpa is low and i don’t see much of a hook
Rice University–Match
Washington University in St. Louis–Match
Duke University–Match
U.C. Berkeley–in state match
University of Chicago–Match

I won’t give you arbitrary odds because, honestly, I don’t know too much about the schools themselves. But as a fellow rising senior, this is what I can extrapolate.

GPA is weak a bit of course, but with a tough course schedule this won’t be too much of a difficulty. Test scores are very solid. Your EC’s aren’t the most unique in the world, but they do have some depth. You have a very good opportunity to convey a empathetic / driven personality or character in your essays [of course if you are empathetic and driven :P].

Your ORM status may hurt you, but nevertheless you are a strong applicant. At this point all that could improve your chances are an improved SAT score and maybe a slight boost to your GPA. But of course, that is all optional as you already are fairly solid.

Work hard on your essays and good luck!
