Can a 760 in Math level 2 mitigate a 700 in SAT I Math? I have an 800 verbal.

it doesn't make up for it, but it shows different things, you can handle slightly higher level math, but that you make dumb mistakes? or something along those lines... wow that came off sounding harsh

mel5140, I sure hope so. I'm in the same situation as you (760 on math 2c, but 720 on SAT I math). Hopefully colleges will see us as more direct mathematical thinkers rather than the more roundabout ways that the SAT asks questions? Maybe? Haha, or maybe it will show that math is just not our strong suit (for me, at least).

I think it's all completely random. I got an 80 on the psat math, an 800 on the math IIc, 36 on the ACT math, and then a 720 (!) on the SAT I math, TWICE!!!!

I don't know why or how, so don't even worry about it, math is strange on these tests.

It's opposite for me...

I have a higher math score on the SAT I and on my practice tests a lower score on the SAT II. Shrugs I think it's because I'm better with "tricky" questions and the fact that they were a bit more fun to me.

also, it only takes a few questions (like 3) wrong to go from perfect to a 720. i was in the same situation for a little while (790 math 2c, 730 sat math) but i just took them in october and finally made no stupid mistakes and got that elusive 800, lol. obviously 800's are great, but i feel that as long as your scores are above 700, theyre not really hurting you.

I agree. The difference of a few questions will not do anything to your chances. Obviously, the difference between a 600 and a 750 shows a large difference in ability than does a 700 to an 800
