<p>a lot of kids don't want to be in NYC for college, so what, is Columbia's admit rate artifically high?</p>
<p>More people apply to Columbia because its in NYC...which means its acceptance rate is really low. Thats fine and legitimate. </p>
<p>Its just that the kids who enroll at Columbia aren't any stronger than any other Ivy or top 10-15 school. And despite its lower acceptance rate than Stanford or MIT, its students are still a notch below.</p>
<p>Also, isn't Columbia's acceptance rate 12-13% - where is this 9% stat coming from? I know that Fu's acceptance rate is like 20something %, I doubt Columbia College's acceptance rate is like 5%.</p>
<p>The Columbia acceptance rate this year is 10.4%. Those who claim < 9% aren't including all incoming freshmen which other schools do include.</p>
