there are a bunch of people on my floor who are engineers (which should place the greatest weight on test scores) and such that have like 2000 sat’s… and my friend in aem also barely had a 2k sat. don’t stress too much

I just recibe a mail from cornell, I applyed ED, but they told me the are going to answer me in regular, is this good ? What should I do

Domevb…It sounds like you have been deferred to the regular decision pool. It is good news because you have not received a rejection and your application will be reviewed again. This is the time to get all of your other applications in the mail to ensure a good outcome come decision time. Wishing you all the best!

This might be a bit late, but looking at Naviance, there are DEFINITELY people who score <1300. And this is for a school in Asia

In the scatter-plot, someone got into Cornell with a 1000/1600 SAT, and an IB score of 35/45. The next lowest got a 1150, then 3 got around 1200. And then another 3 got around 1250, one with an IB score of <30. Then moving on, there’s a 1300, then majority of the rest got between 1300-1500, with a few being accepted with higher-scores (and rejected as well).

As you can see, it’s not just about SAT scores…

It happens, but it’s uncommon. Having higher scores definitely helps.

I really wish GPAs and class ranks mattered less…
