I got into UT Austin with a 2.8 and I’m ranked 200/509… don’t underestimate essays, recs and a really good resume! I’m in-state too, AND AN ASIAN FEMALE TOO!
^ I call hoax on the above. Unless you’re a recruited athlete.
@YESIGOTATX, Did you apply to UT as an education major with the intention of changing majors if you were accepted? What’s your plan if they don’t accept your appeal?
Well I have really good EC’s to support my interest as an education major. My current part-time jobs are teaching swim lessons and tutoring, I babysit disabled children and volunteer for many children’s organizations including the hospital. If they don’t accept my appeal, I plan on working really hard and changing my major after one year!
Nooo! I was honestly so in shock, it still doesn’t seem real that I got in! I applied under a really tiny major in the College of Education and had the EC’s to back it up! My stats were only bad bc my lazy, I did take all AP classes throughout high school and made all 4’s on them (except AP Bio, I got a 3 on that). My teachers often tell me I’m wasting my potential but they wrote my good recs anyways, and honestly they’re gonna be so proud of me when I tell them on Monday!
Also my mom seems to think that her prayers got me in lmao, but she said the same thing about my sister who was top 5% and got into Cockrell back in 2012
Does anyone know if the College of Fine Arts is competitive in terms of GPA? I’m a transfer from a Texas community college with 44 transferable credit hours, 400 volunteer hours, but my GPA is a 3.25 if they count in high school dual credit, and a 3.32 if they only look at the courses I’ve taken at my college
@utarts I’m not exactly sure just how competitive the College of Fine Arts is GPA-wise, but I’m probably about 75% sure that your dual credit classes will not be factored in unless they were taken at the same college that you’re at now.
Scratch that-they might actually be factored in. Someone on another forum said they are. Contact admissions if you must. Sorry
I would think getting into College of Fine Arts would be based more on portfolio/recital strength than GPA. You would have to have a decent GPA but having over a 3.0 is decent. I think it is your work fine arts that would count.
