Lowest GPA I can get second semester and still get in

I was accepted to Comp Sci and am pretty much ready to go to UT. I just dont want to screw up my chances by slacking off too much. I don't really plan to slack off that much, but my classes are getting pretty difficult right now. So my question is, what is the lowest GPA that they won't have an issue with?

I was thinking a 3.0 would be fine.

The GC at my D school says 10%. So if you applied with a 3.70, then you can be around a 3.33 and be okay. CS is a competitive major. They have a group of kids on the waiting list that are busting their butts right now hoping you screw up. They want to make sure you can handle the work. If you think this quarter is hard, what do you think college will be like?

Do they actually rescind admissions? I’ve never heard of them doing it.
I performed so poorly my second semester that I ended up having my admission rescinded from another school, but UT never even contacted me.

edit: I’m not telling you to slack off, but if you’re putting in genuine effort and still not ending up with the grades you want, relax. They’ll probably understand.

My acceptance into electrical engineering as a transfer student wasn’t affected by me withdrawing from all my classes.

I think the requirement is just that you not have any failing grades.

@agpyn3w

I’m not saying I’m going to slack off. Ok maybe a little bit, but I just want to prevent myself from having any issues. Could you define “so poorly”?

at the time my guidance counselor notified them that I was slacking off, I believe I was at something like 2 rather low F’s, 2 low 70’s, 2 B’s

edit: should’ve mentioned it’s possible that my counselors didn’t notify UT; but my final transcript sent to UT wasn’t nearly as bad lol

I think you’ll be fine: I know a couple of people from my school who ended up dropping all their classes except for 3 or 4 of them after their acceptance (lol)

yeah, kinda low of them to do that, but they’re still here.

generally, the rule that I’ve seen around here for even the top schools is to avoid failing a class. they know senioritis exists haha
