Lowest Grade Acceptable for Pre-Requisites

While I was researching pre-requisites for certain schools, I saw one school that said that any class with a grade of C or below would not be considered as a satisfactory pre-requisite. In my second semester of general chemistry, I received a C-.

My question is, is there some general rule of thumb for minimum grades for medical school applications? I am worried that I will get to my senior year and realize that I will not even be able to APPLY to any med schools at all because of that one C-.

Any grade below a C is unacceptable for medical school admissions. This is pretty standard everywhere.

So you will need to retake gen chem 2

Why would you think that you shouldnt retake that class? It strongly suggests that you dont know the material. It would likely be viewed as a courtesy D.

48.000 people apply to med school each year, and 20,000 get in. They don’t want people with low grades.
Figure out why you got such a low grade.
Didn’t put the effort in?
Didn’t understand it?
Had some kind of personal issue?

Med schools don’t want people who won’t put the effort in or can’t understand freshman chemistry when there are so many who did and can.

Retake the grade. Consider DO schools since they do grade replacement.
