lowest stats accepted to nyu 2009??

if you guys were really surprised you got in..what were your stats and school applied too...also is nyu sending alot of acceptances to students who didnt recieve likely letters...or are the chances of getting accepted without a likely really small??/

I guess me. My ACT, when converted to SAT, is about 1380. I got into stern

I had good grades + ECs but my SAT was 2060 and I got into Stern and I’m asian

Okay, this is ridiculous.
1380? 2060? And when did we start defining ourselves by test scores?
At first, all I thought about were test scores, test scores, test scores. Now that I’m in, I really don’t care. I wish I hadn’t cared in the first place.
Stop worrying.
Go out. Chill. Relax.
If you get in, you get in.
If you don’t, you move on and go somewhere else that’s right for you.
There’s nothing you can do about it now, anyways.

For some people, CC is just a huge ego boost.

^ i think we should continue on with this thread. not for us, but for next years applicants. i know i obsessed over things like this, and i’m sure '10 will too.

um I had low stats and I got in?
SAT-1260
GPA-3.6 (unweighted though)
I had a set of nice EC’s I guess though, awesome teacher recs, and I worked for months on my essay. SAT is not the only thing that matters.

yea i realize stats dont mean jack in the real world…but for us hopefuls they can make or break you…anyways my stats are as follows… i havent gotten an invite or likely…should i just stop hoping??

SAT II LIT 610
GPA
3.45 UW
3.6 W

gjl2791- What school did you apply to?

Well it really looks as if your gpa would be the only questionable thing, but I got lower SAT scores than that, I’m sure you could manage to get by with a 4.5 gpa. You have really good EC’s and if you’re a minority, even better! Don’t stop hoping! I didn’t get a likely letter either, but I did find out back towards the beginning of March, but everywhere is different. Your app might have been at the bottom of the pile so it’s one of the last to be reviewed. I wouldn’t worry until I actually get a decision from them. A later decision doesn’t mean that it’s automatically a no. Whether it came 3 weeks ago, or today, the chances of it being a yes or no would still be the same. ;)

Mystiquekami – CAS, but I got into Liberal Studies. The way I look at it though, I got into my first choice and I’ll still get to go to CAS as a junior anyway so it worked out well ;)

Niceee  My friends applied to CAS but got into LSP too. I’m still waiting to hear back from CAS…

Good luck!! I really Hope you get in!! =D

has nyu sent any rejections??

Thanks! Congrats to you btw!

^for these wack scores are they out 2400 or 1600?

HA! my test scores beats all of yalls. 1760 sat and 27 act. my gpa was like 3.3.

then again, it was tisch, and the audition is 50/50. but still, my stats are pretty subpar for nyu standards, at least in my opinion.

Everyone relax! My boyfriend just got accepted into NYU for music education through Steinhardt. I think his stats are the lowest by far.

SAT- 510 (V) 650 (M) 490 (W)
GPA - 3.6
Rank - 57/450
Classes - 3 APS

Granted, since he auditioned that was 50 percent of his decision and he’s all eastern on his instrument. And, he did not receive a likely letter, only a huge packet in the mail yesterday.

Don’t loose hope everyone!

i really hope they show the same mercy on me…lol

thanks
ashmungooooooo lol that just made my day…even though i know 99% i got rejected
I applied for Steinhardt art thou.

same here amanmagoon…T^T…

OMG!! amanmagoon!!! we are the same applicant!! LOL
I also worked at a top research university (UCLA) !!
my SAT (combined) was a 2170
gpa (weighted) was a 3.6 (3.7 if you round up- lol) and i took 13 in all (six of them are this year)
and i’m a minority!! LOLLL- and
i was probably rejected because i haven’t heard back from them!! LOLL
