I just got my SATI scores back, and both times I got a 9 on the essay. The multiple choice scores were fine, and my highest Writing score is 790 (perfect multiple choice). My question is, will this really look bad to colleges? People tell me that my essays are excellent, but I heard that adcoms are suspicious of good admissions essays and poor SAT essays.

Good admissions essays and poor SAT essays could just be a sign that you need more then 25 minutes to formulate your ideas and get them down. I don't see a 9 on the SAT essay preventing you from being admitted.

Okay, thanks. I had just been hearing that low SAT essays suggest that the student had gotten someone else to write their admissions essays.

which colleges? top colleges will have tons of applicants that have great application essays AND great SAT essays, so when it comes down to the final cut.......there won't be room for any slack/excuses....

i'd call the admissions offices of the colleges and check with them, or write a small note saying that you need more than 25 minutes to write a good essay...

It's not the score that matters (when they think you cheated on your SAT essay). Colleges can look at your SAT essays to check your writing style as compared to your college essays if they think your college essay is suspiciously good. Supposedly despite the time difference, people's writing styles remain the same...
