Lowish freshman gpa

At the end of freshman year I had a 3.78 gpa, but because of a class I took in 8th grade for high school credit (it was some computer class) my gpa is now a 3.68 I talked to my guidance counselor about the class and she said what’s on my transcript stays on there. Is it possible I could bring my to a 3.9, and could this affect my chances for any of the top schools? Do the top colleges like MIT or Stanford care about/factor an 8th grade class like that? Thank you.

No college will give serious consideration to a grade received in 8th grade, regardless if it’s on a HS transcript.

A 3.8 is still good enough for the top schools, and a 3.68 isn’t bad at all. Colleges really don’t care about an 8th grade score at all. Don’t worry. Do your best going forward.

as long as you show immense growth and improvement you might be okay

@coffee114, The same could be said of the standardized tests you’re struggling with as a high school senior. Yet you still expect to get into top schools via the holistic route. Why would that strategy work for you and not taylor1234?

@Groundwork2022 Thank you for your advice. I will work as hard as I can going forward

@skieurope Thank you for the reply.
