So, it looks like the name change was a good idea. Or was it the new website? Or what?

Anyone here thinking of applying to this school, or have a child who is? My DD is in middle of college search process.

JRZMom - My D not only applied, but was accepted and loves the school, can’t wait to attend, no matter whether or not it was called Loyola College or Loyola U. Good luck.

Son applied and accepted EA. Loved the vibe of the school, the location, and we love the great graduation/retention stats. Now we wait for FA.

Son accepted EA will visit in Feb - daughter at BC - Jesuit schools are the best!
Good luck!

Son is a freshman at Loyola and loves everything about it - the professors, the classes, the dorms and Baltimore!

My son is also a freshman and loves loves loves the school, the people, professors, location and the dorms. He is so happy!!

My mom wanted be to apply to at least one school farther south than here (NY), and I remembered Loyola’s mailings which were eye-catching, interesting, and somewhat unique. That’s why I applied. lol

Okay–I’m curious about this school for DS#2 (current hs junior). He’s had a few issues in the past–in fact, moved to a private hs and is repeating his junior year. It seems to me he needs a kinder, gentler environment for college. Very shy/quiet kid, although plenty smart and needs to be brought out. What did you/your kid like about Loyola? What kind of kid goes there?

My son is a Junior in NJ…we are looking at business schools, mainly in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic states…we will be visiting Loyola in late March during Spring Break…even though Loyola is not listed in U.S. Business News & World Report’s top 128 schools and is not in Business Week’s Top 100 Undergraduate Business Schools, this school may still be a bit of a reach for my son…since we are not sure his SAT will be much higher than 1650 (taking March 2010 test), he is not likely going to be able to get into Babson, Bentley, Elon, UM College Park, American, or Northeastern…we hope we will have a choice between Loyola, Pitt, Drexel, Temple, James Madison, and Duquesne…Good Luck in your search…

Forgot to mention that regardless of numerical rankings versus other colleges, kids who attend Loyola seem to LOVE it (Quality of Life rating of 94 in Princeton Review) and overall, “academics” gets a grade of 90 from Princeton Review…we will seriously consider this college…

[Loyola University Maryland - Best Colleges - Education - US News and World Report](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/baltimore-md/loyola-college-2078)

For the category listed, it’s obviously a great ranking. And it’s a terrific school.

I believe you can choose whether or not to offer test scores at Loyola. You have to write extra essays and give extra recommendations, I believe. Son didn’t go this route since his ACT was a 29 and we felt it would help with his so-so GPA (3.1UW, 3.5W). He got in EA, so it was evidently the right way to go for him.
