Please weigh in. Both so different. I am a biology, pre-med. Most of my friends are attending UofI,but that does not really matter to me.
I like both settings, but get the feeling that LUC can be a bit depressing.

I am unsure if I will get lost at UofI, or if LUC Honors will be enough of a challenge for me.

I do plan to go onto med school. Which would look better on a resume and which one offers better $$ making research assistant opps for undergrads?

I get one is rural, on is in the city. I realize the dorms at Loyola are like a hotel compared to UofI.
I need to know about academics. Thanks

If you’re considering going into medical school, I would probably decide on Loyola. Loyola not only has a better pre-med program but also a university hospital where you can volunteer and experience your future career.

I understand that Loyola has a lower ranking overall than UIUC, but that shouldn’t deter you from selecting what is best for your major. And since you’re going into an honors program, I’m sure you will find the curriculum rigorous enough. If it isn’t, then you’ll have a great GPA when applying for medical school.

My fear is that by choosin Loyola, some med schools might look at it as a sub-par program. Am I reading too much into it?

So, pre-med Honors classes at Loyola, someone offline, tells me is MUCH more prestigious than UofI Champaign. I am not sure. PLUS UofI locks in their costs for the 4 yrs and Loyola will keep climbing.

UIUC is a better place and sounds like the less expensive option. Besides Northwestern and U of Chicago, UIUC is the best school in the state. And if I may be very frank, if you work hard there you can excel, stay away from the “Official” crowd and you can take advantage of all that UIUC has to offer.

Thank you. I am leaning towards this, but others have told me that Loyola Honors is the way to go, especially for when it comes time to being prepared for Medical School
Grrrr!
