How is Loyola in business? I've never really heard much about it so any help would be great. Thanks!

It has one of the best schools of Business on the East Coast. Business and Accounting have always been its strength.

thanks for your reply! I've read some of your other posts and you said that your daughter is really enjoying her time there which is great but I was wondering if you could provide me with any other information if she has any dislikes what are they and is there anything particular about Loyola that she loves? Thanks!

All I can really say is that my daughter is really happy that she went to Loyola. She likes just about everything about it including the food(LOL). Most of her complaints revolve around professors not giving her the grade she wanted or other perceived slights(LOL). She has really adapted to Campus life and only came home one weekend this semester and she already has selected her roomates and housing for next year. She even has considered taking some summer classes. The one think I like is there is alot of things available for students to do besides getting drunk. All I can say once again is that she is very happy that she went there. Have you made a campus visit yet? Attend one of there College Days asap.

It's great to hear that there are many other things to do on campus as I was worried about the stereotypes given to Loyola students but I know there are stereotypes at every school so it's not a major issue lol As far as grades, would you say it's grade deflation(I know some other schools are known for that so I'm just wondering)? I haven't visited yet but I am going this Saturday. Do you by any chance know if visit days are much different than Accepted Students Day? So far, Loyola is where I'll be going so just trying to get as much information as possible =)

Accepted Student days are for students have been accepted and is a schools last pitch to get you to sign up. It is more like a celebration and is alot of fun. College Days are a sales pitch to get you to apply to the College you are visiting. I wouldn't call it grade Deflation but Loyola is trying to give out less A's. For the record my daughter made Dean's List so it wasn't that bad.

Sellinger is one of the best non ivy/elite bus. schools in the east. It gets plenty of regional recognition. You'll have no problem doing well at Loyola, its not hard to get A's at all. Most of my profs grade in a very fair manner.

Hi: My son has just been accepted to the Bus School at Loyola...so far the comments are very encouraging towards this choice. Thanks for the info. My older son is graduating this year from St. Mike's in Colchester, VT. I know Loyola is larger but is there anyone out there who could compare the two?

I have to admit I don't know anything about St Michael's or how Loyola Pre Med stacks up so it wouldn't be right for me to say anything about those subjects. I have addressed the other topics like drinking in other areas over the past two years so go backwards in this site to see what I said. My daughter is not a drinker and loves Loyola College(soon to be Loyola University-you heard it here first-LOL). There is plenty to do for everyone.

My D is a freshman and I'd have to add that there is plenty to do on campus and in Baltimore. They have great programs run by the campus. There's the Best of Baltimore series for freshman and sophomores that gets them off campus to prepaid events like the theater and an Orioles game. Student Activities also runs events as does a club called Options. My D is finding that she is working hard. She did a varsity sport first semester which was very demanding on her time. She does love the school.

bbor08,

Loyola College is ranked # 2 among Master Universities in the North
St. Michael's College is ranked # 106 among LACs.
Loyola is more selective than St. Michael's
Loyola's average SAT scores > St. Michael's average SAT scores.

In general, Loyola is the better of the two.

Sellinger was recently ranked 45th undergraduate business school in the country. That's pretty damn good, and I may be a student there next year.

You may want to read the College's report on adjustment to campus life for class of 2010. It is here at: Students
Do the research, it may matter big to your students in the end.

Great link...very interesting....seems to correspond to H.S. friend attendance there as well.

I am curious about two things after reading some of this:

Do other schools have stuff like this on their websites?

If they do, how does the Loyola Freshman responses compare to surveys from other Colleges?

It is hard to draw any conclusions, good or bad, without any data to compare it too.
