Applied EA - Deferred to Regular Decision (Psychology, 4.0 UW / 4.2 W)
My son was admitted EA (Political Science) yesterday. He has strong ECs and pretty good stats (3.96UW, 4.6W, 1490 SAT). Looking forward to seeing what the merit looks like
My D23 also applied for Psych and was deferred to regular decision.
Keep in mind that their yield is on the low side so they have to admit many more students than 1500 to actually fill that number of seats. Historically, LMU has around a 50% admit rate.
DS accepted to business! Huge relief after some unexpected deferrals. OOS 3.7 UW/4.35 W/ 1310 SAT/ captain varsity hockey/founder and prez of high school investment club/National Recognition Scholar
Congrats to those accepted!
My daughter got In for CS this fall. merit is pending
Is the CS/engineering program good at LMU ?
Which one is better compared to Oregon State or Seattle U in the west coast .
Scu seems better with CS but she is deferred, so unsure yet.
DD got into LMU undecided and also Chapman. Chapman gave her 36k per year right off the bat. We have to wait for LMU to offer anything. We toured both and we all really liked the campus feel fo chapman, not that thrilled about LMU but maybe we were having an off day and might need to tour again. Housing is a concern. Anyone know if LMU guarantees housing for all years? or how nice either of them are?
SAT 1440
GPA 4.87
Are those numbers (22000/1500) for just a specific major?
Very similar stats with same deferral. Acceptance to Emerson. Have read that LMU accepts very few off the bat to film program, but not sure if that is accurate. Good luck!
Those stats were written in the acceptance letter. Itās total - but keep in mind that many more than 1500 are accepted. Looking at a stat from a prior year (2019 or 2020, I think)ā¦ 19,045 applied, 8727 accepted, 1606 enrolled.
i was deferred for psychology, 3.8 UW 4.1 W.
LMU tends to only give about 2l-16k in Financial aid tbh. They will not get a better packaged. BUT LMUās location compared to chapmanās (assuming it is film prod) is invaluable. Many chapman students become part time students for internships in LA and Beverly Hills. Also, campus beauty helps during stressful finals, especially with christmas events, tree lighting ceremonies, Hanukah, and more! You also own the rights to your film. HOWEVER all film schools are over accepting and experiencing equipment shortages. Housing is not garenteed for 4 years, only the 1st unless they become an RA (I am one now).
Depends what your child wants overall I guess. Canāt go wrong either way as long as they are proactive for what they want and need from the teachers
Just putting this out for film students:
- LMU truly has one of the smallest teacher to student ratios. Biggest film class was like 12 smallest was like 7 people including myself.
- Equipment shortage due to grad school over acceptance.
- Every school has good and bad teachers, but even if I disagree with SFTV profs sometimes, I havenāt met one that hasnāt cared ab out the success of their students.
- Even if you havenāt had a prof and ask questions they are happy to help
- Great reputation in industry, especially internships
- Really collaborative feeling amongst the students who WANT to make films, not just competitive (we are inspired by those who are better than us, not threatened)
- Sorry but we are going through a food phaseā¦we are fighting for better food
- Price matters, Chapman gives you a small stipend, but still like LMU gives you full rights so depends what you want.
- Alexa Mini for seniors and grads and C300 for junior films.
Same situation for my son. Accepted into Emerson and Fordham, but deferred at Pepperdine & LMU for Film.
Early Admission- Accepted Economics and business. OOS, 3.9 GPA, 1400 SAT, NHS, Varsity CC, Aerialist . Excited but not decided
I thought I had seen it somewhere, but wondering if anyone knows when they will release merit scholarship information
