Well long story short, I was a good student in high school(from South mississippi) but also a great football player, i received many rewards as well as recognition from local newspapers and online websites such as scout.com and rivals.com. Bottom line is I went to a school based on football instead of academic excellence. I ultimately went to a top football JC in the country to get more exposure and ended up signing with Southern Miss to play football this year but recently I have decided to step down from football and transfer to a higher institution to further my education and make things easier on me in life when I enter in my family business.

In applying for transfer to both tulane and loyola i feel like I killed the essays and short responses. My dad proofread both and thought I did an excellent job. For loyola I got a great recommendation from a former acc. math teacher from high school. I have my fingers crossed but Im not really sure if I even have a chance. Please chance me!

Well got my acceptance letter from Loyola at the end of last week. They also are giving me the transfer scholarship of $36,000 over three years. I am excited but I am still gonna wait on Tulane before I make my final decision.

Congratulations! I was accepted with the transfer scholarship as well! I’m still waiting to hear back from other colleges as well. Best of luck with Tulane!

Well Tulane didnt fall through so looks like I will be attending Loyola this fall!

I’m 90% certain I’m headed to Loyola, too. Other schools I’ve been accepted too haven’t given me nearly enough aid to make attending feasable/rational, plus my parents really want me to experience New Orleans. Career-wise, I think it would be a smart move too.

Good to hear! What are you interested in studying? Here is some great info on internship opportunities offered through the College of Business: [Internships | College of Business | Loyola University New Orleans](http://www.business.loyno.edu/internships)

I’m actually planning on a degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations and a minor in Economics. I’ve looked at the Mass Comm internship newsletters and think the opportunities there are wonderful! I’m also excited about applying to be on the Bateman team next year. I took this year off and worked at an Entertainment PR firm north of Seattle, and I can’t wait to take what I’ve learned in the field and apply towards helping a non-profit.

My dream career is working as a film and television producer, and since New Orleans has become a major hot spot for film productions, I want to take advantage of this, too. I’d love to have some film experience on my resume, so I can apply to UCLA’s Producer’s Program with some experience under my belt.

^^^Chern, as a resident of New Orleans, I can tell you, we have so much film stuff going on here, it would be a great opportunity for you to head down here. Although I think UNO, our local public university, had a good Fine Arts/Film masters program, the state public unis are being seriously slashed in funding, so there’s no stability in studying at one of those.

Loyola is a great school. My son is an engineering major, so attends an OOS full time, but he attends Loyola in the summer for non engineering courses and loves it. Great teachers, great students, and beautiful campus. Next door to Tulane, so all the amenities without the price. Right on the streetcar line as well. Great film studies program, with movies shown often on campus, so you’ll get your film fix there as well.

Good luck to all of you and enjoy Loyola!

I was accepted to UNO’s Film Arts program last year, but decided to take a gap year instead. I reapplied and thus far have heard nothing. When I went to take a quick peek at the school last July, a few students mentioned how they’re worried budget cuts will kill the classes they need for their major. Here in Washington, where I’m from, we’re facing the same thing. Our state flagship, the UW, publicly announced that they’re beginning to accept out-of-state students because they pay triple the in-state tuition rate. My mom, who is a community college instructor and a HUGE supporter of state colleges, actually encouraged me to look at a few private schools because they aren’t as unstable as some of the state colleges.

But, yes, the more I read about Loyola and New Orleans, the more excited I get!

I’ve applied to Loyola, but I’m short by 1 credit. Any possible predictions on if they’ll accept me?
