Loyola University Chicago vs. UIUC

I am stuck between two options of UIUC and Loyola. I know that based on rankings Loyola isn't even in the same league as UIUC. Though, honestly, when it comes to liberal Arts they are the same. Also, I'm getting a merit scholarship at Loyola that will make it almost $12,000 cheaper than Illinois each year (Once total costs are figured out). Plus, it's really close to my home and I've realized that Law Schools (for the most part) don't seem to really care where you go for your bachelor's as long as it is respectable and you manage a high GPA/LSAT. Also, I visited UIUC and really didn't like the atmosphere or the town at all.

As far as their respective Law Schools. UIUC's is almost top 25 now but my research shows that, here in Chicago (where I want to work), law firms hire MANY students from Loyola. Honestly, though, my plan right now is to go to Loyola for undergrad and then go to UIUC for law. What do you guys think?

My advice is NOT to let thoughts about law school influence your decision because whether you attend Illinois or Loyola will not matter when it comes to law school admissions, especially if you want to attend Illinois Law School. GPA and LSAT will do it for you.

My advice, then, is to base your decision on other, important factors. It seems like financially, academically, and socially Loyola is the better choice.

Good luck, wherever you go :-)

Yeah, as I'm sure you've heard, go to whichever one is a better fit. I'm a student at Loyola, btw.

What is your intended major?

Political Science. It's the major that most interests me.
