Does anyone know how good Loyola chicago theatre program is? I know they offer a major in theatre with a minor in musical theatre or a minor in dance. I just want to know if this is a quality program. No audition is required. My D was accepted .

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm in love with the school but I'm not so sure about their theatre program. Anyone?

Claire - I will tell you that I have been checking into this for sashusmom, since I live in the area. I will say that, I have never heard anything about a theatre program at Loyala - now that may be because it'd be in the shadow of DePaul, or it's up and coming. But I did contact my daughter's high school theater director, who is (and his wife) a DePaul MFA grad, and was a working actor many years (he's about my age) in the Chicago area. His response to me was that wasn't aware that Loyola had a theatre program, but he was going to ask around with some of his old cronies who are still working down in Chicago.

I know Loyola is a great school; we actually know a couple of students there now, and they are very happy, but they were not looking for theatre opportunities in college.

I had the same question. I was told by an audition coach that loyolas theater program is not respected in Chicago but the CCPA actors are respected for their training.
