LS 1 vs. LS 2

Hey, so I'm a freshmen and for second quarter, I'm taking either LS 1 with Kane or LS 2 with Esdin/Arnold. I'm considering LS 1 because Kane has pretty good reviews, and I love the subjects of evolution/ecology/etc. And for LS 2, I've read that Esdin/Arnold aren't the best teachers and they give hard exams, but a lot of my friends are taking this class and that could be useful for study groups. Should I go for LS 1, or would LS 2 be easier, even with not so good professors?

Overall LS2 is a more difficult course that you may want to wait until you’ve solidified your studying technique to take. It’s a lot more interesting than LS1 but is undoubtedly one of the most competitive pre-reqs you’ll have to take. Esdin is a good professor but I haven’t heard much about Arnold. Believe me when I say you’re not going to find much better LS2 professors so there’s no sense in waiting.

I just re-read your post and saw that you’re interested in the LS1 material. To be honest I would take LS1 if I were you since you’re still getting used to UCLA curriculum/competitiveness.
