LSA Honors Question

I applied to Honors at the beginning of March and heard back today…

And I am by no means an “outstanding” applicant whom they would be dying to have.

ahhh im really scared now

Son sent his essay in at beginning of Feb and was notified of acceptance into Honors March 4.

I wouldn’t let it bother you if you aren’t accepted into Honors. Older son entered as Engineering student and transferred to LSA after 1st year, so was never in Honors. Had a great experience at U-M regardless. Very solid foundation for his future.

Honors Economics more than exists- it’s pretty tough. A thesis is no joke. Honors Math also exists, but not particularly for Financial Math. (Honors Math does not require a thesis, just more rigorous coursework). If you want to do Honors Math, you will take (advanced) lin alg and real analysis, and can opt to take diff eq and advanced probability (instead of the other option, modern algebra and topology) as you would have in Fin Math, in addition to being allowed four electives, which you could likely fill with Fin Math courses (must be decided upon in conjunction with an adviser). Definitely a tough route as well, but a good one.

ahh i still havent heard anything its almost going to be 5 weeks i feel like this is bad

I JUST HEARD BACK TODAY AND I MIGHT POSSIBLY BE ONE OF THE HAPPIEST PEOPLE ALIVE AT THE MOMENT :)

@goblue- it took them 8 weeks to assess mine. So don’t worry…THERE IS STILL HOPE!

I GOT IN Yesterday…
AWESOME!!!

So happy…I mean really happy…lol…

IF you have any questions, ask me for help…

@socurious123 how long ago did you apply and how did they notify you?

I applied on the last day of February and received my admission in less than 4weeks.
They sent me an e-mail saying that I got in…Hurraryy…lol

I applied march 11th, any guess on when Ill hear back?

I applied in January and just got the acceptance email today.

Child accepted early action to Michigan in December, awarded Michigan Tradition Scholarship, and invited to apply to Honors College. Child applied to Honors College in mid-January. Received denial of admission to Honors College today, April 1.

Has anyone else received a long-delayed denial after having been invited to apply to Honors College?
