LSA Scholarships Recieved?!?!!

Has anyone who got admitted to LSA received a scholarship aside from the Regents or Shipmans? If so, when did u get admitted and when did u get the scholarship?

yeah..
got admitted mid-november
received a letter about LSA scholarship Christmas Eve (the letter was dated Dec 19).

I was accepted on the Nov 23rd, and I have not received a thing--it looks like I'll be paying 15 k a year, woo-hoo.

ladyinred....if u dont mind sharin....what kinda package did u get?

20 K per year for 4 years

I also received a letter about the Shipman scholarship. They're offering another 20K/year scholarship for 4 years regardless of whether I get the Shipman award. I guess that's a full ride?

(I'm Out of State)

anyone else get it?

I was wondering if the merit aid/Shipman/what-have-you are posted online? Or are they strictly sent snail mail...anyone know? Maybe email? Just wondering...

Everything I got was solely through snail mail...

LadyinRed, can you post your stats?

bump bump bump

check page 10 of "Stats of Admitted Students" topic

About how long after you received notification that you had been accepted did the scholarship offers arrive? I am hoping my D gets some kind of offer, given her stats - she was accepted online on December 21st or so, and we haven't received anything other than acceptance packet via mail. LadyinRed - can you help? Thanks!

I got scholarship info around Christmas Eve...(everything was dated the 19th or 20th). That was about a month after I was accepted.

hehe...well then merry christmas ladyinred.

I hope this doesn't sound like a DUMB question, but here it is - my D was accepted into LSA Honors which includes housing in the South Quad. She also was offered a very large scholarship from LSA. Is there an easy way to figure out how much we still need to come up with to pay her tuition, etc.? The website states $38,000 (OOS) as an estimate, but that includes housing. Do I subtract the cost of housing from the estimate, assuming it is "included" with the Honors Program? Help! Anyone?

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......yeah...honors housing isn't free.

Honors Housing is a Michigan Learning Community, but that doesn't mean that its free. You'll be charged room and board just like everybody else.

KB

Thanks for not making me feel DUMB KB! (The long uhhhhhhh was a nice touch.) Thankfully, my D just received her third scholarship from UMich, so looks like she has a free ride, wherever she decides to live!

May be you don't fully appreciate the significance... getting into South Quad is a big deal. It's in prime location. Congrats to your daughter and welcome to Michigan.

Oh, trust me! WE ARE THRILLED! We threw a little party, once we realized that she could go! We were hoping for a Shipman invite, but I think those aren't being sent out anymore this year, and she didn't get one. But we are absolutely thrilled with what she did receive, so I think she will be putting UMich on the top of her list!
